From Diagnosis to Discovery: How Art Became My Path Forward
Today, our key supporter had the privilege of speaking on 570 AM radio about my journey as an artist living with Parkinson's disease and the growing impact of the Painting with Parkinson's program.
When I was diagnosed with Parkinson's in 2016, I faced many of the same uncertainties experienced by thousands of others living with the condition. What I did not expect was that art would become such an important part of my life.
Through painting, I found more than a creative outlet. I discovered purpose, connection, and a way to transform challenges into opportunities for growth. Each brushstroke became an expression of hope and resilience.
During the interview, we discussed how art can support emotional well-being, build confidence, and create meaningful connections within the Parkinson's community. We also explored the growing interest in Art Therapy and the positive impact it can have on people living with neurological conditions.
Today, Painting with Parkinson's is more than an art program. It is a movement that encourages people to embrace creativity regardless of age, ability, or diagnosis. Through exhibitions, workshops, community partnerships, and fundraising initiatives, we continue to demonstrate that Parkinson's may change how we live, but it does not define who we are.
I am grateful to the listeners, supporters, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and fellow artists who continue to encourage this work. Your support helps us expand opportunities for people living with Parkinson's to experience the healing power of art.
Together, we are proving that creativity has no limits and that hope can be found in every canvas.

Painting with Parkins tHIS MORNING AT 10.45AM pAINTING WITH PARKINSON
This morning I had the privilege of joining The Mike Farwell Show on 570 News Radio to share the story behind Painting with Parkinson's and the remarkable impact that art can have on people living with Parkinson's disease.
My journey with Parkinson's began in November 2016. Like many people receiving a diagnosis, I faced uncertainty about the future. What I did not expect was that a simple suggestion to try painting would completely change the direction of my life.
I had not picked up a paintbrush since high school. Yet what started as an experiment quickly became a passion. Painting provided an outlet for expression, reduced stress, improved my sense of purpose, and helped me focus on possibilities rather than limitations. Today, hundreds of paintings later, art has become both a personal therapy and a platform for advocacy.
Painting with Parkinson's is about much more than creating artwork.
It is about:
Through workshops, exhibitions, speaking engagements, and community partnerships, we continue to demonstrate that creativity can help people navigate life's challenges while maintaining hope and dignity.
One of the key messages from today's interview was the value of art as a therapeutic activity. For many people living with Parkinson's, creative expression can provide emotional, social, and cognitive benefits. Painting allows us to focus on what we can create rather than what we have lost.
Every painting tells a story. Some reflect resilience. Others celebrate nature, family, caregivers, or the simple beauty that surrounds us every day.
Art has helped me rediscover purpose, and my hope is that others facing Parkinson's or other life challenges may find similar benefits through creative expression.
The Painting with Parkinson's initiative continues to grow. We are expanding opportunities for people to experience the healing power of art, supporting awareness campaigns, promoting art therapy, and creating ways for the public to bring meaningful artwork into their homes while supporting a larger cause.
I am grateful to Mike Farwell, the 570 News team, and everyone who tuned in this morning. Thank you to my family, friends, caregivers, healthcare professionals, fellow artists, and supporters who have encouraged this journey.
Parkinson's may be part of my story, but it is not the whole story.
Every day offers an opportunity to create something beautiful.
